Construction of the Žihľavná visitor and educational centre is currently underway, so construction machinery is operating along the 2 km section from the entrance to Gaderská Dolina. The route is very physically demanding. Beware of the technical sections when descending from Krížná. The trail can be slippery after rain.
We ask visitors to the national park to avoid the area between Smrekovica and Skalná Alpa, where firefighters and nature rangers are currently battling a forest fire.
There is no year-round source of drinking water on the route. In the area of Krížná, there is an increased incidence of brown bears. We recommend having a rook or spray with you.
