Nature protection
The Veľká Fatra National Park was declared in 2002. The protection zone was declared in 2003. The park is part of the NATURA 2000 network.
Zoning: The area is divided into zones A, B, C and D according to the degree of protection. Zone A (without intervention) includes old-growth forests and the most valuable habitats.
Monitoring: The National Park Administration provides year-round monitoring of large carnivores, predators, amphibians and rare plant species. There are more than 40 camera traps located on the territory.
Intervention team: In the event of an encounter with a brown bear, there is a continuous line of the Intervention Team at 0800 162 662.
