What are the opening hours of info points in NP Veľká Fatra?
Info points in NP Veľká Fatra are open seasonally (June – September), usually daily 9:00 – 17:00. Outside the season, opening hours may be limited. For current information, please contact the NP administration.
Where can I park at the park entrance?
Parking is available at multiple trailheads – Blatnica, Necpaly, Liptovské Revúce, Donovaly. Some parking lots are paid (€1-5/day). We recommend arriving early as they fill up during the season.
Can I camp or bivouac in the park?
Free camping and bivouacking is not permitted in the national park. Visitors can use cabins and guesthouses around the park or official campsites. The current list of accommodation facilities can be found in the Accommodation section.
What to do when encountering a bear?
Stay calm, do not run and do not shout. Slowly move away and avoid direct eye contact. In case of an aggressive bear, contact the Response Team at 0800 162 662. More information can be found in the About the Park – Bear section.
Are the trails suitable for children and seniors?
Yes, NP Veľká Fatra offers several easy trails suitable for families with children and seniors. We recommend the Trip tips – Easy hiking section. Some sections are wheelchair-accessible.
