On Sunday, 17.11.2019, there was a very pleasant, friendly atmosphere in the small village of Nolčovin the area of competence of the Veľká Fatra National Slingshot Administration. People from all over Turiec, but also from distant cities such as Košice and Komárno, met here. At the beginning, visitors had the opportunity to see a documentary film called “Brown Bear in the Veľká Fatra”, followed by a lively discussion with Ing. Juraj Žiak.
The documentary captures the work of zoologists, conservationists who monitor the brown bear. The documentary offers a realistic view of the way of life of bears in the Veľká Fatra Mountains and the Turiec Basin. The film has an educational character and its main task is to demolish myths and prejudices of people against bears. Theme and screenplay: Ján Kuchynka, Ing. Juraj Žiak, Ing. Ondrej Pelikán, Ing. After 11.30 a.m., there were very engaging presentations by RNDr. Vladimír Slobodník, CSc. zoologist of the Ponitrie Protected Landscape Area Administration, who introduced people to the winter feeding of birds, the production of bird feeders, the importance and practical demonstration of bird ringing in the field.
Finally, there was a joint production of bird feeders and refreshments : – )
