During the camp, children not only discovered and learned about the new and unknown, but also had space to just be kids, play, and enjoy free fun and relaxation.

The last holiday week of July in Veľká Fatra was marked by the Summer Day Camp “On the Road to the Beauties of Veľká Fatra”. The camp was attended by 25 children aged 3.5 to 11 years. The program was diverse, so that the little conservationists could learn as much as possible about Veľká Fatra and its natural kingdom.

On Monday, the children visited the Pčola bee farm, where they not only learned about the world of bees, but also a little bit about other pollinators that are very important for nature.

On Tuesday, they observed the nature of Veľká Fatra from the cable car to Malinô Brdo and learned about the history of Vlkolínec, which is the pride of not only Veľká Fatra, but also Slovakia.

On Wednesday, children could express their painting and creative skills during experiential painting of animals and plants in Blatnická dolina with the ARTE Center from Likavka. In the afternoon, they searched for hidden outlaw treasure, during which they completed various environmental activities.

On Thursday, the little participants of the day camp headed to Ľubochnianska dolina, where an interesting program from the field of forestry and hunting awaited them. The children tried out various game calls, archery, and even air rifle shooting.

Friday was dedicated to exploring underwater life. In the stream in Jasenská dolina, children used nets to catch zoobenthos, which they then examined in detail under a magnifying glass. Their curious questions were answered, as they were throughout the week, by professional staff from the national park administration.

After a festive lunch, the children received diplomas and small keepsakes. In the afternoon, they moved to Ovčín in Turčianske Jaseno, where they concluded the summer day camp by climbing on a bouldering wall.

Full of impressions, experiences, and new friendships, the children said their goodbyes and, though tired, were happily picked up by their parents. According to the organizers, the Summer Day Camp of the Veľká Fatra National Park Administration was a success, and they are already preparing the next edition packed with adventures in exploring the national park.
