🌲 Invitation to the Day with an Expert in the Gaderská Valley 🌲
We invite you to discover the richness and diversity of forest communities in one of the most beautiful valleys of the Veľká Fatra. This time we will focus together on the life of the forest, its relationships and contexts, which often escape our ordinary view.
📅 Date: Saturday, 20.9.2025
📍Meeting point: 9:15 at the wooden entrance gate to the Gaderská Valley (just behind the village of Blatnica)
👨 🔬 Expert guide:
The explanation will be accompanied by prof. Ing. Karol Ujházy, PdD. from the Department of Phytology of the Faculty of Forestry of the Technical University in Zvolen, which draws us into the fascinating world of forest communities. You will learn how individual species of plants, animals and microorganisms are related, what their importance is for the stability of the ecosystem and why it is important to protect these natural complexes.
🗺 Route:
It will lead from Blatnica along the Gaderská Valley, during which we will stop at several interesting places. We will walk through the flat terrain to the Žihlevná gamekeeper’s lodge, which is located below the Blatnický Castle, and then we will plunge into the forest and continue climbing along the blue trail to the Mažarná Cave. We should arrive there in the afternoon, so we recommend packing a sufficient amount of food and water with you. Arrival back to the Gader cottage settlement is planned around 3.30 p.m., and this time may of course change depending on the circumstances.
🚍 Transport:
Not provided. We recommend using the suburban bus line from Martin or Turčianske Teplice to Blatnica, or coming by your own transport.
🥾 Difficulty of the route:
The route through the valley is easy and moderately difficult towards the cave, so even less experienced tourists can handle it. We recommend sturdy shoes or hiking poles.
📧 Login:
Reservation can be made by e-mail at rezervacie@npvf.sk
We look forward to your participation!
