We have had two successful field trips with pupils of the Priehradná Primary School and the Hurbanová Primary School and Kindergarten. This time, the pupils had the opportunity to see online – the feeder of the News of the Veľká Fatra National Park live, namely directly in the field, following the lectures on feeding birds in winter , which were previously held in schools.

We also demonstrated the capture and ringing of birds. He explained the reasons why birds are ringed and what it brings to conservation practice. Later, we moved to observe wintering waterfowl on the Váh River. We were delighted by mallards, a singing aquarius, a grey heron with a caught fish and also a rare whistling duck.

The children liked the excursion very much, they brought a large number of goodies for the feathered hungry birds in the form of nuts, apples, sunflower tallow and other bird treats 🙂
You can see how the children decorated our online feeder at the link songbirds II
