BORIŠOV (1510 m a.s.l.)
To Borišov they lead to signs of all colors on each side. From Turiec, you can get to it from Balcierovo (starting in the Necpalská Valley – 10 kilometers) or from Havranov (starting in the Belianska Valley – 7 kilometers). It is a moderately difficult hike. Among tourists, Borišov is a sought-after place not only for the beautiful circular view from the very top, but also for the Cottage under Borišov, which is located below it. The most beautiful cottage in the Veľká Fatra, nestled in the bosom of nature. The cottage is located at the intersection of several trails. It is accessible from the Ľubochnianská Valley, from Liptovské Revúce, but also when crossing the Veľká Fatra Highway or by the ridges.

LYSEC (1380 m a.s.l.)
Lysec is a peak that is recognizable from a great distance. It is visible by its “baldness”. Its northern side is forested, the southern side consists of mountain slopes, which provide breathtaking views of the ridge of the Veľká Fatra and the peaks of the Little Fatra, including Veľký Rozsutec or Kľak. In good weather, you can also see the Low, High and Western Tatras. As the beginning of the route, you can choose the Jasenská valley (blue trail behind the Lysec cottage). You can descend for a change along the yellow trail. You can also continue to Malý Lysec and further to the sought-after Chata pod Borišovou (Veľká Fatra ridge), which is a more time-consuming crossing.

TLSTÁ (1373 m above sea level)
Tlstá, like Ostrá, is one of the peaks of the Veľká Fatra located in its northwestern part, near Martin. Tlstá will delight you with its unique nature in the form of unusual rock formations, caves such as Mažarná, but also with an amazing view. The ascent to Tlstá is best started in the Gaderská Valley. The whole hike is located in a unique natural environment. The views from the vast top of Tlstá are worth it. You will especially enjoy the views above the Turčianska Basin to the Lúčanská Malá Fatra. It is worth connecting the hike with a circuit to the top of Ostrá. This hike is a small ridge and is one of the most beautiful routes in the entire Veľká Fatra.

OSTRÁ (1247 m a.s.l.)
The most beautiful peaks often do not have to be the highest and do not even have to be located directly on the main ridge of the mountains. Ostrá is the clear proof. The ascent to it is one of the most beautiful in the entire Veľká Fatra. This part of the mountain range is completely unique in the whole of Slovakia. Here you will find an unusual combination of forests and a number of rock formations. The ascent to Ostrá leads from the Gaderská Valley or the Blatnická Valley near Martin. The trail climbs through beautifully shaped nature. The rocky cliffs are unreal in places, the smaller caves hidden in the rocks look mysterious. Just below the top, you will overcome the rocky terrain with chains and pass through a small rock window, through which you will get to the very top of Ostrá. The terrain to Ostrá is quite steep in places. The top itself is pointed. In good weather, you will have beautiful views of the whole of Turiec and the Malá Fatra. If you have enough fitness, we recommend combining a visit to Ostrá with a climb to Tlstá, as we mentioned above.

SIDOROVO (1099 m a.s.l.)
Sidorovo is a massive peak located above Vlkolínec in the northern part of the Veľká Fatra. The Sidorovo massif is unmissable from afar. Climbing it will give you a hard time. You can go here directly from Vlkolínec. At first, you will walk on milder meadows, but later a proper steep slope will begin. The second option is the route from Ružomberok to Calvary. It is more lengthy and you have to overcome several hills. Along this route, you will pass through places with beautiful views (e.g. Great Rock). After the steep hike, you will have a semicircular view from the top as a reward. In good weather, you can see all the way to the High Tatras (especially Kriváň), the Low Tatras and the Liptov Basin opens up nicely. The top of Sidorovo is equipped with a railing with a viewing information panel. An interesting fact is that there were fortifications here in the past.

RAKYTOV (1567 m above sea level)
Rakytov is clearly one of the greatest gems of the Veľká Fatra. It is the highest peak of the Liptov branch of the main ridge of the Veľká Fatra. You can take a hike for beautiful views from Rakytov along the yellow hiking trail from Liptovské Revúce from the Teplô locality through the Teplá Valley. You can make the route more pleasant by relaxing and visiting the Limba Shelter. Another ascent route leads from Smrekovica through Rakytovské sedlo and you can also go here from Chata pod Borišovou via Ploská. The top of Rakytov provides a circular view of the Malá Fatra, the Low Tatras, the Veľká Fatra and in good weather you can also see Choč or the High Tatras. At the top, you will come across a lookout rose and a wooden cross, at the southern foot there is an interesting Rock Gate.

PLOSKÁ (1532 m a.s.l.)
Ploská is certainly one of the most original peaks in Slovakia in terms of shape. Thanks to its rounded shapes, you can recognize it well from afar. The vast grassy peak seems to characterize the entire Veľká Fatra. Especially beautiful mountain meadows. Ploská is accessible from Vyšné Revúce through slightly ascending terrain. You can also get to the top of Ploská when crossing the Veľká Fatra ridge, for example, from Chata pod Borišovom, from where you have it in the palm of your hand. The views from Ploská are among the most beautiful that the entire Veľká Fatra can provide. They are circular to the distant horizon and you feel like you are in the middle of all the hills. You will see the Malá Fatra, the Low and High and the Western Tatras. Ploská is also one of the popular ski mountaineering destinations. You just have to be careful in winter, because the perimeter is lined with large slope disturbances and avalanche grooves.

OSTREDOK (1596 m a.s.l.)
Ostredok is the highest peak of the Veľká Fatra. It will provide you with beautiful 360-degree views of the main ridge, especially Suchý vrch, Ploská, Čierny kameň and Rakytov. Further you can see as far as the High, Low and Western Tatras, the Kremnica Mountains and the Malá Fatra. Despite being the highest in this mountain range, it is not a steep hill. It is a sprawling mountain peak, covered with grasses. It is very easily accessible from Krížná. The part of the ridge between these peaks is especially beautiful. It represents an interesting, relaxed part of the ridge, which can also be completed as a family trip. There are several hiking trails leading to Ostredok, the starting point can be Liptovské Revúce or even the village of Blatnica through the Gaderská Valley. The hike from Blatnica is quite long and difficult with a high elevation gain.

KĽAK (1394 m above sea level)
Kľak is the highest peak of the Turiec branch of the main Veľká Fatra ridge. When you look at it from a distance, it seems uninteresting, but when you’re on it, it’s about something else. It is said that the view from Kľak is one of the most beautiful views of the Veľká Fatra. From the top, you can see many peaks of the Veľká Fatra, the Little Fatra, the Choč Mountains, the Western Tatras, but also part of the Low Tatras and the Moravian-Silesian Beskids. The Veľká Fatra Highway leads to its top and you can get to Kľak from Jarabiná. There are several access routes to Kľak. Shorter routes are from Podhradie, from Sklabinský Podzámok, another route is from Krpelany to Sedlo Príslop and also from the Ľubochnianska Valley.

NOLČOVSKÁ MAGURA ( 1059 m above sea level)
Beautiful views, no one anywhere, just you and nature. This is also what Nolčovská Magura – or as the locals call it – Mogura. The access route begins behind the village of Nolčovo at the beginning of the Great Valley. From here it is a shorter but steep route. You can also extend the hike by going through the Great Valley to the Príslop Saddle and from there to the top. With a shorter and steeper route, you will climb steeply up the forest until you come to a meadow, from there it is not so far. Although Nolčovská Magura is not one of the highest peaks, panoramic views from the mountainous peak will open up to you, especially of the Kriváň part of the Malá Fatra. You will certainly not meet crowds of people on this hike, so you will enjoy the real nature.
