The Teplice serpentines represent a system of ponds connected by water serpentines. They were built by Count Révay in the 19th century to ensure the water supply to Turčianska Štiavnička. The route begins at the well at the southern end of Turčianska Štiavnička, by the road towards Sklabinský Podzámok. At the beginning, we will start climbing along the beaten path up the slope. This climb is not long, it is only a few meters and we will continue with a much gentler climb.
After about 5 minutes, you will come to the first lake, where there is an information board and benches. You can walk around the lake, or continue further to a small rock waterfall.
From the waterfall, continue along the serpentines upstream of the stream, which will accompany you all the way. The shade of the dense forest and the gurgling water provide a pleasant environment, especially on hot summer days. Along the way, you can admire wooden bridges, gutters, small bays and. You will get to the upper system of lakes and cross the system of bridges to the highest one. Here you will find several fireplaces and benches designed for relaxation. This place may be the destination of your journey, but if you have enough strength and want to continue exploring, continue upwards to a beautiful viewpoint.

This section of the route is more challenging. The climb is not long (about 500 m) but it is steep. After a few minutes, however, you will be on a straight line that will lead you directly to the viewpoint. Here you will find a wooden plaque with an engraved view of the Lúčanská Malá Fatra. Next to it on the rocks there is a wooden cross. Let yourself be carried away by the sounds of nature and beautiful views for a while.
The Teplice serpentines are a locality that was included in the “Seven Wonders of Turiec” in 2008. They are still among the places that are less visited and you will find peace here. The trip will certainly be enjoyed by children, who, especially in the summer months, will appreciate the refreshing water from a mountain stream and thus the journey to the destination will be much more interesting for them.
