Ostrá

The most beautiful peaks are often not the highest, nor are they necessarily located directly on the main ridge of the mountains. Ostrá is a prime example of this. The ascent to it is among the most beautiful in the entire Veľká Fatra. This part of the mountain range is completely unique even within Slovakia. Here you will find an unusual combination of forests and numerous rock formations. The ascent to Ostrá leads from the Gader Valley or Blatnica Valley near Martin. The trail climbs through beautifully sculpted nature. The rocky cliffs are sometimes almost unreal, and smaller caves hidden in the rocks appear mysterious. Just below the summit, you will conquer rocky terrain with chains and pass through a small rock window, through which you will reach the very summit of Ostrá. The terrain to Ostrá is quite steep in places. The summit itself is pointed. In good weather, you will have beautiful views of the entire Turiec region and Malá Fatra from it. If you are fit enough, we recommend combining a visit to Ostrá with an ascent to Tlstá.
