The administration of the Veľká Fatra National Park together with the company PROFI-NET s.r.o. brings you another unique project, which is a view of the interior of an old beech and fir forest located on the ridge of the Veľká Fatra. In addition to regular visits by brown bears, wild boars, badgers, foxes or martens, a shy wolf, lynx or wild cat can also appear in front of the camera. This site has been monitored for several years as a migration route for large carnivores. Before the live broadcast project itself, it was mainly used to monitor the brown bear, which took place using camera traps.
The purpose of this project is to provide visitors with the opportunity to watch animals in their natural habitat from the comfort of their homes, as not everyone has the time, health or other opportunities to spend enough time in the forest to see wild animals in their natural environment. The novelty is that the camera also records sound, so you can hear when the activity of birdsong is the highest, you can also capture the crackling of canaries under the paws of an approaching bear, or the night hooting of a barn owl. We believe that the project will bring you many experiences, reveal the behavior of animals and the ethology of species, and ultimately contribute to the positive perception of large carnivores in the territory of the Veľká Fatra.
This technically demanding project was also created thanks to the willingness and consent of the user and owner of the land on which it is being implemented. Thanks also go to tip-net and the Martin Training and Mobilization Replenishment Base, which enabled us to establish a relay point to ensure connectivity to the location. Furthermore, Ing. Juraj Žiak (NPVF Administration), who professionally prepared and coordinated the entire project, and Ivan Darani, who provided and coordinated the technical part of the project. We would also like to thank the employees of the Administration of the Veľká Fatra National Park, Ing. Ivan Milan and Ing. Július Schestág and, last but not least, the director of the Administration of the Veľká Fatra National Park – Mgr. Peter Vantar.
