Administration of the Ve\u013ek\u00e1 Fatra National Park<\/span><\/strong> <\/span> Every year, it solves the issue of migration of amphibians through land roads. In the area of competence and the adjacent region, there are several localities where protected amphibians are killed every year, especially warthogs (Bufo bufo<\/em><\/strong>) and<\/span> brown frogs (Rana tempporaria<\/em>).<\/strong> <\/span> In terms of its location, the Budi\u0161 locality is the first of the locations in the Tur\u010dianska basin where migration begins. The first migrating brown frogs appeared at the site on February 26, which is unusually early!<\/strong><\/span> That is why we decided to build the barriers earlier than in previous years. The unusually warm February caused a rapid thawing of the soil, which made it easier for us to dig a gutter, into which we installed about 100 meters of plastic foil (barriers). The height of the barrier is about 70 cm and amphibians cannot overcome it. At the bottom, the foil is covered and thoroughly covered with soil so that it cannot be undermined, which is often done by warty toads. Deep holes were dug on the edges and in the middle of the barrier, into which migrating frogs fall and from there they are carried by volunteers and employees of the NPVF Administration across the road to the breeding site (flooded meadow above the road). A long-term problem of this site is its drying out and, in recent years, the complete loss of water even before the development of amphibians is completed. This has resulted in an ever-decreasing trend in the population of brown frogs in Budi\u0161. Of course, this also applies to other locations where there was a mass reproduction of amphibians in the past and today these sites are almost dry in the spring months… It is related to the global problem of warming our country, and it is because of this that we can now rank amphibians among the most endangered groups of animals. <\/span><\/p>\n
