Incident with a female bear in the Ve\u013ek\u00e1 Fatra \u2013 no injuries, an investigation is underway<\/p>\n

On Wednesday 29. October 2025 in the afternoon, an incident occurred between a female bear and two employees of the administration in the area of competence of the Ve\u013ek\u00e1 Fatra National Park Administration. The event took place in the area below the Repi\u0161te hill in the cadastral area of the village of Liptovsk\u00e9 Rev\u00face, Ru\u017eomberok district, in the natural habitat of the brown bear (Ursus arctos).<\/em><\/p>\n Two employees of the National Park Administration, a man and a woman, were in the field at the time marking the A zone of the national park, when they were unexpectedly attacked by a female bear. The man, who was carrying a legally held short rifle, fired several times at the attacking animal at the institute of extreme necessity, which fled beyond the horizon after the shots. There were no injuries to the workers.<\/p>\n The officer immediately informed the police and the Brown Bear Intervention Team \u2013 Fatra. Upon arrival at the scene, the team monitored the area and found a brown bear with no signs of life near the site of the attack. According to the initial estimate, it was an older female bear with an approximate weight of 130 kg.<\/p>\n The intervention team then monitored the wider surroundings to see if there was a den, food source or other attractant nearby that could be the reason for the animal’s presence. The body of the female bear was taken for an autopsy, which will determine the exact cause of death and the general health of the animal.<\/p>\n Camera traps have been placed on the site to monitor whether any bear cubs will return to the site.<\/p>\n The administration of the Ve\u013ek\u00e1 Fatra National Park warns the public that this is the natural habitat of the brown bear and appeals to increased caution when moving in the field, especially in the more remote parts of the mountains.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Incident with a female bear in the Ve\u013ek\u00e1 Fatra \u2013 no injuries, an investigation is underway On Wednesday 29.
