The Ministry of the Environment of the Slovak Republic, as an intermediary body for the Slovakia 2021-2027 Programme, has announced calls for drawing funds for water management infrastructure from EU funds. The first two calls from the Slovakia Programme with a total allocation of almost EUR 160 million will support the construction of a sewerage network, wastewater treatment plants and water supply systems. At the same time, from national sources, the Environmental Fund published the Specification of Support Activities in the Form of a Subsidy for 2024 in the area of Water Protection and Use, with a deadline for submitting applications by 11 December 2023. <\/strong><\/p>\n

\u20ac160 million has been allocated from the Slovakia Programme for water infrastructure, while more than \u20ac73 million from the European Regional Development Fund and another more than \u20ac85 million are funds from the Cohesion Fund. In the case of the first call, from the European Regional Development Fund, more than \u20ac66 million will be allocated for projects outside the Bratislava Self-Governing Region. Almost 85 million euros from the Cohesion Fund are allocated for projects throughout Slovakia. <\/p>\n

Funds from two calls of the Slovakia Programme will be available for the construction of a sewer network and wastewater treatment plants in agglomerations with more than 2,000 population equivalents (PE), wastewater treatment plants in agglomerations of up to 2,000 PE, if the sewerage network has already been built on 80% of the entire agglomeration in question. EU funds can also be used for projects of decentralised municipal wastewater management systems in agglomerations over 2,000 PE and the construction or expansion of public water supply systems in agglomerations above 2000 PE. The construction and expansion of public water supply systems in agglomerations above 2000 PE will be conditional on the existence or simultaneous construction of infrastructure for municipal wastewater management. <\/p>\n

Calls for applications for the provision of a non-repayable financial contribution from the Slovakia Programme take the form of open calls. Their conclusion will not be determined by a predetermined date, but by the submission of a sufficient volume of applications for the entire allocation of calls. Another option for municipalities is to participate in the Specification of Support Activities in the Form of a Subsidy for 2024 (Area: Water Protection and Use) and the related Call No. B-1\/2024, opened by the Environmental Fund. Submission of applications for the specification is open until 11 December 2023, while the eligible period for the purpose of this specification is from 1 January 2024 to 30 November 2027. The call is open until November 13, 2023. Municipalities and associations of municipalities can apply for subsidies in the areas of public water supply systems, public sewerage, sewerage and water supply in 1 rhyme, or in the field of water retention measures in the country. <\/p>\n
